Military transition

Military to Civilian Cockpit

Taught by a retired Army officer who understands where you're coming from. We help you turn military flight experience into civilian certificates efficiently, from military competency credit to the ATP.

  • Guidance on converting military experience under 14 CFR 61.73
  • Logbook review and a plan built around the hours you already have
  • Multi-engine training and ATP checkride preparation

Hour figures are FAA minimums under 14 CFR Part 61 and are shown for reference. Actual training time depends on the individual.

How we train

Standards first. Then stick and rudder.

Twenty years of Army logistics teaches you that preparation beats improvisation. Every flight starts with a clear objective and ends with an honest debrief.

  • Training to the FAA Airman Certification Standards (ACS) from day one
  • Scenario-based instruction that builds judgment, not just maneuvers
  • Steam gauges and glass cockpits across a varied set of aircraft
  • Ground instruction from an Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI)
Getting started

Four steps to the checkride

  1. Reach out

Tell us about your experience, your goals, and your schedule.

  2. Build the plan

We review your logbook and lay out a training plan, aircraft, and airport that fit.

  3. Train

Structured flight and ground lessons, each with a clear objective and debrief.

  4. Checkride

Mock orals and checkride prep so you walk in ready and walk out certificated.

Aircraft

Eight types. One standard.

From light-sport trainers to light twins. Train in the aircraft that fits your goals and budget. Availability varies by airport, so ask when you reach out.

FAQ

Common questions

Don't see your question? Ask us directly.

I'm a military pilot. Where do I start?

Start with a logbook review. Many military aviators can earn civilian certificates through military competency (14 CFR 61.73), and qualifying military pilots may be eligible for a Restricted ATP at reduced hours. We'll map the most direct route from the experience you already have.

How long does training take?

It depends on how often you fly, your prior experience, and the certificate. FAA hour requirements are minimums, and consistent training (two to three lessons a week) is the most efficient path. We'll give you a realistic estimate once we know your goals.

What do I need before my first lesson?

Nothing more than curiosity. Before you solo you'll need a student pilot certificate (applied for through IACRA) and, for most aircraft, an FAA medical certificate. We'll walk you through both.

Do you offer flight reviews and IPCs?

Yes. We offer flight reviews (14 CFR 61.56) and Instrument Proficiency Checks (14 CFR 61.57(d)), tailored to the aircraft and type of flying you do.

What about the ATP CTP?

The ATP Certification Training Program is completed through an FAA-authorized provider and is required before the ATP multi-engine knowledge test. We'll help you sequence the CTP, the knowledge test, and your flight training to keep things moving.

Which airport will I fly from?

Home base is KFCI in Chesterfield. Training is also available at KRIC, KOFP, KPTB, and KPVG, depending on the aircraft and your location.
